DESCRIPTION

Snow, rock, ice, altitude: these are the elements that characterize climbing the giants of the Alps! High altitude mountaineering requires a minimum of experience in rock and ice climbing and, depending on the itinerary, different skills and competences will be necessary, as well as good basic physical preparation. Here are some suggestions:


1) Ortles (3905 metri) – Hintergrat

The most beautiful route along the Ortles ridge, with snow slopes of up to 40° and grade II and III passages.

  • Where: Ortles – Cevedale Group; Val Venosta in South Tyrol
  • Duration: 2 days with overnight stay in a refuge
  • Time: from mid-June to mid-September
  • Number of participants: maximum 2 people

2) Piz Bernina (4050 metres) - Biancograt and crossed Piz Palù.

Magnificent itinerary on one of the most beautiful ridges in the Alps with the crossing of the three peaks of Piz Palù. Snowy slopes up to 50° and rocky and mixed passages up to III°.

  • Where: Western Rhaetian Alps – Canton of Grisons in Switzerland
  • Duration: 3 days with overnight stay in a refuge
  • Time: from mid-June to mid-September
  • Number of participants: 1 person
