DESCRIPTION

Fascinating, long circular excursion that explores much of the Puez area.

We immerse ourselves in a primordial and wild atmosphere to reach the top of Piz de Puez at 2913 meters. We start from Passo Gardena (2121 metres) and after crossing a labyrinth of pink and orange spiers and pinnacles we go up to Forcella Cir and shortly to Forcella Crespeina with its beautiful wooden cross. From here we admire the panorama of the vast lunar plateau of Puez in amazement, in the distance we see the Puez Refuge. From the pass we descend for a short stretch and begin to cross the plateau: we pass near the characteristic Crespeina lake, we reach the Forcella de Ciampei and finally we reach the Puez refuge (2475 metres) where we have lunch. From the refuge the excursion takes place in a wild and isolated environment where we can enjoy a splendid and rare solitude; we will reach the saddle that divides the Piz de Puez from the Col de Puez and then climb the steep scree that will take us to the much desired summit. The panorama that opens up before us is boundless: the Aurine Alps, the Zillertal and Hohe Tauern Alps, the Ortles group, the great Dolomite peaks of Braies, Tofane, Antelao, Civetta, Sella, Sassolungo and all the sharp peaks of the Odle . On the way back we retrace our steps to the refuge and then cross a plateau of pastures and flocks of sheep and goats until the path begins to descend dominated by a pink wall. Thus we reach the entrance to Vallunga, we travel along it and end our long but unforgettable day.
