DESCRIPTION

The Carnic Crossing, also called “Via della Pace”, is a trek that travels along the high altitude of ridges after ridges of the Carnic Alps on the Italian-Austrian border.

The proposed itinerary includes 5 stages which take place in an unusual environment of wild beauty, uncrowded, in intact and little anthropized nature, at an average altitude of 2000 metres. The overnight stay takes place in the welcoming refuges along the route.

The route winds mainly along the border ridge disputed at the time of the Great War 15-18 between the two Italian and Austrian armies and there are numerous points of historical interest that can be visited along the way (trenches, blockhouses, war stations) .

The Carnic Crossing is suitable for expert and well-trained hikers, capable of walking several days in a row on mountain paths, with good psycho-physical preparation.
